January 2024 Recap

Posted by OnceHere - February 1st, 2024

  • I published the 1st Chapter of Erebus. (9 more to go!)
  • Made a short comic titled "Okay".
  • Looked for comic feedback.
  • Drew lots of Wanzu art, and received lots of amazing fan art.
  • Joined NG Office Depths Collab.
  • Discovered lots of cool pixel artists.
  • Participated in Pixel Day.
  • Made lots of pixel art.
  • Started the Anastasia Project (Drew 76 Characters, 1013 to go!).
  • Started re-learning how to make games.
  • Failed the first term of college.

Overall, this month was okay... None of my individual works got frontpaged so it means that I can still make better artworks.

Anyway, hope this month is better :D

When you're looking into game development, avoid the 'Unity Engine'. ( One of many summaries here: https://markanime.newgrounds.com/news/post/1388001 )

I'd also recommend you to read a book about game 'design'. The following two are supposed to be very good and were recommended by a source I trust. (While I have not read them myself, I've been recommending those titles for over a decade now and have yet to hear a complaint...):
'The art of game design' by Jesse Schell
'Level Up! - the guide to great video game design' by Scott Rogers

Hope this helps.

(Sorry if this sounds too 'promotional'. I usually would have sent this as a PM, but your current settings don't allow for PMs from non-friends.)

Thanks for the suggestions! PMs are off because of the security stuff a while back. Anyway, I'm planning on using Godot for my future games so I'm not too concerened with unity :D
